Subjective:
The patient presented to our office complaining of facial swelling with drainage from her face.
Objective:
The patient is a 27 y.o. female. The patient had been placed on Augmentin by her family M.D.
Examination revealed an interincisal opening of 25 mm. The patient had poor oral hygiene. Dental caries was noted in tooth # 31 on the panoramic radiograph. In addition, the x-ray revealed a periapical radiolucent defect associated with # 31. Right paramandibular facial edema and erythema was noted with draining yellow exudate (pus) from the cutaneous tissue
Assessment:
- Right Facial Abscess secondary to Odontogenic Infection, Tooth # 31 with Spontaneous Pointing and Fistula Formation
Plan / Treatment:
- Admission to Owensboro Mercy Health System
- IV Antibiotics
- Extraction Tooth # 31
