Case of the Month


April, 1999


Subjective:

The patient is a 54 y.o. female that was referred to our office for evaluation of right TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) pain.

Objective:

The patient has no known drug allergies. There are no serious illnesses. Examination of the right TMJ revealed grinding, upon auscultation of the joint, during movement. The patient complained of tenderness to palpation over the right TMJ. Radiographs revealed decrease interarticular distance and flattening of the articular eminence. The patient had failed to respond to conservative therapy.

Assessment:

  1. Osteoarthritis of Right TMJ

Condylar Head, Fossa, and Eminence.


TMJ disc with perforation.
