With the arrival of Anthony Spina, DDS, MD, the University of Kentucky Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department has greatly expanded its ability to offer cosmetic facial surgery procedures. Dr. Spina completed his OMFS training in Buffalo, New York in 1995 and finished a second year of general surgery in 1996. He then completed a cosmetic surgery fellowship in Gainesville, Florida in 1997.
Following his arrival to UK on July 1, 1997, Dr. Spina has performed an array of cosmetic procedures in the clinic. These include rhytidectomy, blepharoplasty, scar revision, and liposuction. Currently, patients are scheduled for hair transplantation, rhinoplasty, and laser skin resurfacing.
In October Dr. Spina organized a continuing education course on facial resurfacing. This provided an opportunity for both attendings and residents to become certified to use lasers for resurfacing procedures.
