Following graduation from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry Dr. Tucker was accepted into the residency training program for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center and affiliated hospitals. During his internship and residency, hospital medical rotations were in the Departments of Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Oral Pathology, E.N.T. ( otolaryngology ),General Surgery, Neurosurgery, and Oral - Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Tucker served as Chief Resident of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service prior to being granted a speciality certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1978.
Board certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery was granted after successful completion of oral, written, and clinical examinations. In addition, Dr. Tucker became a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1981.
