Welcome to my home page. If you are like most people you may not be exactly sure what services an oral and maxillofacial surgeon provides for the public. Educationally and professionally, I have always considered oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMS ) a hybrid of the dental and medical professions offering the best aspects of each.
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is the speciality of the dental profession that deals with the diagnosis,surgical, and adjunctive treatment of diseases, injuries, and defects of the mouth, jaws, and face.
As a highly trained surgical specialist oral and maxillofacial surgeons correct accidental facial injuries, birth defects of the jaws, TMJ problems, oral cancer, wisdom teeth problems, facial pain, malpositioned jaws, and missing teeth. Since surgical anesthesia was discovered by dentist, ( Dr. Horace Wells and Dr. William Morton ) oral and maxillofacial surgeons have extensive training in pain control methods. As an oral and maxillofacial surgeon our concern extends to the patient's total health.
