Dean Assael Assumes Position
Arriving on campus Wednesday August 20, Dr. Leon Assael, new Dean of the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry celebrated the new academic year by attending the annual UKCD Convocation. Prior to becoming Dean of the College of Dentistry, Dr. Assael's professional career covered 22 years in clinical dental experience as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, educator, administrator, and research scientist.
After touching down in the bluegrass he was off to Seattle, Washington to be the moderator of the "Symposium on Third Molar Removal: Indications for Care" for the 79 th Annual Meeting, Scientific Sessions and Exhibition of the American Association of Oral and Maxillfoacial Surgeons. The symposium was a huge success with standing room only. His comments about the CATS in front of the national audience left little doubt that his blue blood WILDCAT conversion was on track.
Dr. Assael was born in Manhattan, NY. He is married to Linda Buck Assael and they have three children Rachel, Jeanne and Julia Assael. Dean Assael welcomes the opportunity to meet all UKCD alumni. Appointments can be make by calling Assistant to the Dean, Susan Hampson, 606-323-5786.
